Last day for the year
So the last day of this part of the season has come and gone...
Where has the year gone to?
Although we have not had any competitions yet, our nippers have done really well! Most of them have passed their pool swims and are ready to do their exams early in the New Year. Our nippers have learnt to push themselves harder and have even broken some of their own limitations... its been a great start to the season!!
The day was a typical Milnerton Beach nippers day. The wind was up, the sea was cold and the sun was shining!!! We had 9 nippers down at the beach. B and I had thought about going to the pool as it was their last session, but then decided that our nippers had had worse days on the beach, so we kept them at the beach.
B took the nippers to the house and back for a run, while Grandpa Dean pulled his wetsuit on. ;-)
We had the nippers do some runs and sprints and some ins and outs. We then sent 3 of them to go and fetch boards and we practised running with boards in and out of the water in relay teams.
Some of the nippers discovered that if you dont hold your board the correct way, the wind will take both you and the board for a mini detour :-)
We sent the other nippers to run and fetch a board each. Somehow, the run message was lost on them and they took a leisurely stroll along the beach... this resulted in a run for all! (at this rate our nippers should all take top 10 positions in the long run events next year) ;-)
the nippers did board relays and mass board paddles. They had to run out, paddle to B, paddle in and then do 10 pushups or situps on their boards. We did this 4 or 5 times and only had to send them running once!
After that, we let the nippers play in the water for a bit with or without their boards. We have noticed that when they are doing nipper related things, they moan about the cold, and yet when they have free swim or board, the cold doesnt seem to bother them at all! mmm... maybe theres something to be learnt there...
When they started turning blue and came out of the water, we took them in for a shower... shame some of them were really cold!! on a side note... its so funny to hear the nippers running down the beach when its time to go shower... all you hear is "i book my shower"; "I book the nice shower"... as if the showers have their names on it...and as if the showers are different!!!
We then all said good-bye and see ya later alligator!
To all the nippers and nipper families, we hope that you have a blessed Christmas season and a wonderful New Year!
We will see you on the beach for an action packed second half of the season!
PS nippers, we are going to miss you guys over the next few weeks!
